Approach & Philosophy

The Basic Idea:

when i was about twelve i started making tapes. i'd been inspired by the music i heard around me and wanted so much to make my own record.  i began writing simple songs and layering them into two cassette decks, one playing  while the other one deck records and  i performing the next part live. i was hooked. luckily it wasn't long before i discovered DAW's and one in particular that was free and downloadable, was fruity loops. The quality of my songs improved dramatically as well as people's reactions to my  music. from then on it's been the focus of interest for me professionally, artistically and personally.

i'm in love with the process of making recorded music. i'm captivated by the broad blend of art and technology that is as much pioneering and ever-expanding, as it is self referential, simple, powerful and nostalgic. the rules and approaches only limited to one's imagination, empathy, direction and collaboration.

let us be the place where you can let go, be yourself and be confident that the music you hear in your mind will come alive before your ears!

we provide a full range of services from working on entire full length projects to just helping out our neighboring studios, and as always our focus is on local music!

ask us about our friendly rates, tracking, editing, mixing and mastering; sound effects and foley as well as demos, singles, EP's and LP flat rates.

ultimately what drives me to make records is as much compulsory and instinctive, as it is informed by experience, expertise and my own musical perspective. it's been an interest and pursuit of mine since i was a kid and i love the journey from beginning to end. Like a sherpa, surgeon, cheerleader, time keeper, arbiter and confidant; let me guide you to the completion of your next amazing record.

Lately i've had the pleasure of working with clients i have a long history with. it's been a sweet and productive season where no ice needs to be broken and the advantage of an established workflow brings ease, expediency and productivity. Some being a second or third album, a long string of singles to be released, or finally putting something out that's been in production for a while. but as always, i'm on the hunt for the next project to help bring to life.

perhaps the greatest take away i've had from the recording process, is really listen, be invisible but essential and have empathy. the art of making music is deeply human and requires trust and intuition. lets just say i'm obsessed with the journey, the people, and i'm stubborn enough to bring projects to completion.

without writing a whole book, my experience has taught me to become acutely aware of mood, character and context and how they play a crucial role in the success of a recording project. ultimately, i find great satisfaction when an artist achieves a performance above their expectations, or they hear a mix that makes them proud to show off to their parents and friends, or being lucky enough to  witness and sometimes help a break through in a song, lyric, or any other major turning point of a project.

i wear many hats from musician/mix and mastering engineer, confidant and arbiter, to producer/project manager and of course friend/cheerleader and objective truth teller etc.. i've produced my own records, those of my friends, and have been in bands and on stage and have had the pleasure to help bring to fruition so much art in boston's local music scene.

i love making records.
